Summary of the Course Objectives
"We began the course by talking about how texts of various kinds are created with different purposes, audiences, and strategies in mind. The effect of these texts on readers also varies; how we develop and in what form we constitute texts can increase the chances that we will create texts that are especially useful for our subject matter and intended goals.
In that light, and with the idea that you will be working with our Community Partner to achieve at least one type (and perhaps more than one type) of text, your project is to create a portfolio with an array of genres that best represent your goals for the focus you would like to create for yourself and your reader."

Individual Responsibilities
Our class worked with the organization Granny's Garden in various capacities. My group in particular worked to create a promotional video for the organization that Granny's Garden could display on their website. This video documented the many ways that Granny's Garden is involved in the community and how the organization works to sustainably to help those that it can.
Beyond our work with Granny's Garden, we had to tie in a somewhat related literature review and a project that demonstrated the information in our literature review in a different manner. My literature review investigated sustainability in several of today's popular companies. The second method I used to disseminate what I learned was using an easy to read and attractive flyer. It is meant to clearly and simply explain what sustainability is and if offers some suggestions on how to live sustainably. Both the reflective essay and the flyer are included on separate pages as visual demonstrations of the work I did during the fall semester that I took this course.
